Genita C. Robinson (she/her)

GCR Consulting works with service-oriented organizations to help define and fulfill their missions. Areas of expertise include aligning organizational strategies and values, right-sizing staffs and budgets, enhancing board governance, and improving community outreach efforts.

GCR Consulting is an MBE/WBE certified advisory practice founded by Genita C. Robinson in 2008. A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, Genita has direct experience in the nonprofit, for-profit, and government sectors and maintains a broad network of mission-focused institutions and service providers to which she can connect clients.

Genita’s personal passion and professional expertise for developing effective leaders and boards come from her extensive experience. Genita has facilitated leadership programs for the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, the Lohengrin Family Foundation, and the Chicago Foundation for Women. Genita’s confidential coaching style is co-active (letting the client’s needs set the agenda), focuses on the full spectrum of personal growth (joy, boundaries, acknowledging spheres of control, and seeking a healthy balance), and always defers to the client’s subject area expertise.

Genita, as a former Executive Director, is particularly adept at navigating and educating others about the boundaries between board, leadership, and staff roles. At GCR Consulting, she has advised organizations with budgets of less than $100,000 and as large as $80 million. A sample listing of clients can be found on GCR Consulting’s website.

Genita is a sought-after workshop moderator and presenter having produced content for AMPT: Advancing Nonprofits, the Axelson Center at North Park University, Forefront, and the University of Chicago’s Community Programs Accelerator.
